Address

A collection of information that is used to designate the location for pick-up or drop-off of a Shipment.

API

Application Programming Interface is a software intermediary that allows two applications to talk to each other.

Feature

A unit of functionality of a software system that satisfies a requirement, represents a design decision and provides a potential configuration option.

Job

A task that is assigned to a fleet of drivers and/or vehicles to process a package’s transportation based on a set of delivery service requirements.

L

Location

An Address added by a customer within the Quincus product in accordance with applicable documentation, including hubs, sorting facilities, customer addresses, and any other place through or to which a Shipment may transit.

M

Mile

A single stage or movement in a package’s journey from one point to another in the supply chain (e.g., first mile, last mile, or middle mile).

Module

A component of the program or solution dedicated to a specific objective or goal.

Multi-mile

A concept that encompasses the whole supply chain, from a package’s start point to its endpoint.

Multimodal

Having or using a variety of modes and links to create, or represent, a transportation network.

Order

A customer (or sender) requests to transport a package, or multiple packages, from point A to point B.

Package

An object or group of objects wrapped in paper or packed in a box.

Package ID

The unique identification number that is assigned to a package when created in the Quincus system.

Shipment

The transport of goods, including one package (Package ID) or an aggregate of packages (Package IDs) (e.g., a sack, container, crate, or package) through one or more Locations to a single Address. 

Solution

Implementation of people, processes, information, and technologies in a distinct system to support a set of business or technical capabilities that solve one or more business problems.

T

Transaction

The activities or volume counted that can be tracked for billing purposes: 
  • A Package ID number created in the Quincus system. 
  • Validation of an address in the GeoEngine.

User Account

A unique login account (i.e., email address, mobile number, etc.) used by a team member, agent, contractor, or any of your affiliates to access the Quincus system (including both active & inactive accounts)
